Seems like daytime activity has come to a hault around here. A lot of new sign everyday. I was spotlighting fields 2 nights ago and saw a few different bucks on the move after does. Looks like they've taken to a nocturnal pattern here.

Minnesota yesterday was 72 degrees. I sat stand anyway and only saw one spike just before dark. It was slow for sure.

I saw 23 deer, Saturday.....and 8, yesterday evening. I know the temps someties have a lot to do with deer movement....but if I'm not mistaken....the temps have nothing to do with the rut, itself.

I'd blame the lack of deer movement (If I was experiencing it) on the temps or the moon phase (I think it was full, Tuesday).

I am sure the Moon phase as something to do with it, I went and sat out on some public land on Tuesday afternoon/evening and did not see a single deer, The night before I sat a different spot and only got a glimpse of three does 80+ yards away. I think the moon has a lot to do with it. It was also unusually warm here as well.

I went out today, unfortunately late due to dropping of my son at school. Thought I might see some daytime activity. Got up in tree at 9:30 and at 10:30 saw a small buck chasing a doe towards me. He chased her around me for several minutes, and she finally got rid of him. When he left, he offered a 10 yd broadside, but he was a little forky yearling, and I didn't want to take one so small. Jumped a doe walking out. She didn't see me but heard me, so she only ran a few yards away. I squatted down behing my pack and pulled out the "can." I kept bleating, and she came back to within about 25 yard and then would run away a few. She did this several times. It was fun. And yes, it got hot.
