shooting expandables thru a crossbow

shooting expandables thru a crossbow
Has anyone tried this? Will they open on the exit or stay closed until hitting the target? There is quite a bit of pressure from the force of the crossbow when it goes off and I am a little concerned they will open up from the pressure and not fly right?
If anyone has shot expandables thru a crossbow and it works Please let me know.
Thanks ahead of time for the help.

RE: shooting expandables thru a crossbow
Alot of the guys in the CB forum have talked about this and they say that with the rear hinge style they have to double band them. Some say they open and some say they don't. I have been shooting the Tekan Two's this summer and have had great practice with them and they have not opened up on me yet. But I have not shot a deer yet with these so I can not give a full report on them. Look deep into the CB forum and you should find some info on it there.

I was going to try to use the NAP Spitfires because they seem to have a stiffer holding power before releasing the blades. I might just have to try it and find out at the target for one shot to make sure they fly right.
Thanks for the response.

give the spitfires a try. They are what i use and they arn't coming open at 175lb at 313fps. They seem to do pretty good. I've done some testing with them and had no premature opening. Havent shot a deer with this particular head yet though hopefully tonight. Goodluck.

I can't imagine it being a problem since most crossbows don't have much more power than an upper end compound. However it devolopes that power in a shorter stroke, that might effect it.
Your best bet is to browse the crossbow forum and see what they say there.
I agree, spitfires should work well out of a Xbow.
