morning or evening

This time of year when do you have the best luck morning or evening? To see deer or to kill a deer?

I have done well both morning and evening this time of year. If I were to pick between the two I would say mornings have been more productive for me. Assuming your entry / exit routes don't disturb the deer and their daily patterns....

I think chances of catching a mature bucklate to bed are higher then catching him leave his security cover early at this stage of the season.

Once the chasing / heavy cruising starts any time of the day will be productive if you did your homework. The important thing is being out there......

Good luck out there. [/align]

The last hour and half of daylight has always my best window of opportunity when it comes to big bucks.

I've been hunting hard the past week from morning to night and I've seen deer in the early mornig hours but I also seen bucks just before last light .
When the pre - rut and full - rut is in it's a good idea to stay out all day.

I think it all depends on stand placement. Usually if Im hunting the morning Im hunting a food plot and do see some nice bucks. During the evening I like to hunt close to bedding areas. Usually because the big bucks come out into the field after shooting light, so I like to catch them on there way there. During mid day I like to hunt the bedding area stand also so I can catch him coming from feeding. During the rut, you should stay put no matter what stand your in. The bucks are always out and about, whether its feeding to regain strenght or chasing that hot doe.

3 of my last 4 bucks killed this time of year have been in the evening. Actually with still a decent amount of daylight left too. (1-2 hrs)
