I started my vacation today and hunted almost the whole day minus 2 hours. This morning was awesome. I kicked one deer up going in but I continued to my spot on top of a hill with set aside on it and under it. I was on my 2nd rattling sequence when I heard a GROWL, roar or whatever you want to call it, so I stopped rattling and waited. Then another growl(very loud) and then a fight! Oh yeah, things were looking really good. After the first fight the winner went on to chase a hot doe around the set aside bottom and growled the whole time, he finally cornered her, but another buck came in and the fight was on again. This went on and on for almost an hour. I bet I heard at least 20 growls! The biggest buck looked to be a real nice 10 pointer, buck came no closer than 80 yards. I was finally able to bleat one of the losers in but he got down wind of me and left. After that the rest of the day kind of sucked, I saw 5 more does and tried to put a stalk on a bedded coyote, I failed. Anyway it was a pretty cool morning, I hope the next 2 weeks go as well.
