Wasn't taken in a park reserve. It was taken in city limits in a controlled hunt situation, meaning: that because it's within city limits they only let so many people in there every year. Basically a big woods in the middle of subberbia. I live just south of the the cities in Minnesota. There are alot of deer (to many)in the area and some big ones.

It was a real hunt in a real situation, no high fences or anything like that.

Hardly a "game preserve." It was taken in a special hunt to control the population of deer in a regional park outside the Twin Cities. Just because someone takes a monster buck like this in a city, state, or regional park doesn't cheapen it. Or rather, it's not like shooting fish in a barrel because the deer aren't normally pressured from hunting. They're wild animals and while they may let you walk by them from a hundred yards away on a hiking trail, try getting close enough to put an arrow through them.

And a hunt like this is hardly elitist in nature. Sure, it was only open to the select few hunters (16)that applied for the hunt, passed a proficiency test, and were accepted. There are hunts like this in cities and towns all over the country and such an opportunity is likely open to all of us if we put the time and effort into finding them and doing what it takes to become part of them.

If you read the article, she helped coordinate the hunt and let all of the other hunters choose their possible stand sites before she set up in the last available spot. Maybe she was just being nice, but quite possibly, I believe from her 15 years of experience, she knew that was a sweet spot to be. Again, sounds like a real class act.

Yes, we do have plenty of bigguns in the land of 10,000 lakes, 5,000 rivers, 3,000 ponds and 2,000 streams. I really want to get into the managed bowhunt by the Coon Rapids dam, Coon Rapids MN, but have yet to be able to remember to apply for it. Mn, as I am sure other states have a big problem with deer in urban areas.

OK, I'm sorry for that info...I was only partially correct. I also live within 30 minutes of the cities and am well aware of how many big deer there are in the area. If you ever takea look at P&Y and B&C density maps you will see the Twin Cities is surrounded HEAVILY by these deer. Good for her.
