Tracking Question

Shot a Buck, little six piont.:) I had him at twenty yards and had to stop him. While stopping gave him the doe bleed and got a quick reaction looking right at me. Well I shoot and he ducked the arrow making the shot high. I waited about two and a half hours and started the search. After tracking for closed to a mile a big pile of blood by the road almost six hours later. The Pile of blood and three specks of blood there was nothing. No arrow, no deer, no nothing. What do I do.

PS It is raining all day.[:@]

RE: Tracking Question

No arrow at the site where you hit him?

What did you SEE (when the arrow hit)?

Was it raining when you shot? When did the rain begin (in relation to your tracking job)?

Let's start, there.....

Sounds like your up a creek with out a paddle , I would get some friends together and do grid shearch of the area where you saw last blood.

I agree with RD. Got to the last known blood and start a grid. It is probably your best chance of success.

RE: Tracking Question

Ditto with RD! Start at the last blood and do a grid search. I also hope that that bunch of blood by theROAD didn't mean that someone else found him first! But for your sake I'll keep my fingers crossed that he just laid down until he heard you coming and ran off. Keep us posted as to whether you find him.
