Moose

hey all I was wondering if a moose moves into a deer area will he push the deer out?? I was out scouting today and had a HUGE Bull moose 40yards from me come out of the bush as i was sccouting on where to put a stand for friday, man this guy was Huge! It's pretty cool that now I don't have to goto maine or New Hamshire to se Moose now we have them in Norther Conn on the Mass line. it's the third on I've seen this year the other 2 were cow's.
Thanks

RE: Moose

They wont push the deer out, but where i am from and hunt they have deffinetly taken over. last year in 10 days of rifle hunting in northern NH we (7 of us) saw 39 moose and only 5 deer. I think they eat the deer out of an area rather than push them out. the moose seem to dwell alot in the higher land during the fall.
To answer your Q, I shot my 1st deer 10 minutes after seeing a moose.

RE: Moose

Too many moose will hurt the lands ability to hold a healthy deer herd!! They do eat them out! There are not near enough moose in CT to affect the deer!! There is plenty of good land in CT to support both animals! If you have seen sign in the area, that the deer are there, the moose will not chase them out!!!there are so many deer in CT you have no need toworry!I seen like 50 a week ago on my way home from work in less than 3 miles!!!
