The Bowtech whispers and death is near

That's truely how it felt. The big doe had snuck in on me early, at 5:15pm. I was just lucky that I had a feeling about today and snuck out of work a little early. She was close, too close and walking straight at me. I was a good 18 feet up, nestled into my lone wolf climber. She was below me crunching on the carpet of acorns laying on the ground. She could sense, something was different. When an animal with a keen sense of smell is that close, in swirling winds, she is bound to get a whiff of something. But my scentlok base layer did it's magic and convinced her that the danger wasn't close. The fall pattern of my Gods Country Camo made me invisible in the Autumn woods. She worked her way out to the field. I had the rangefinder out and was confirming my distances. When she stepped into my best shooting lane (you know the one, that special spot you always say would be the perfect shot) I had her at 18 yards. The pin settled high behind her shoulder due to the steep angle. (she was well below me as I was midway upon a ridge). Then that practice paid off..because it all went on autopilot after that. The arrow tipped with the awesome Muzzy MX4 slipped through her. No thud, no thwack, Just, scalpel like, cutting precision. A perfect hit, sent her off on a run that was over before it began. I could see the arrow embedded in the ground. 15 minutes later I climbed down, took the gear back to the truck, drove home to get the ATV and returned. Everything was like I knew it should be. The arrow was recovered, the track was short and easy, 25 yards, double lung. I got her quickly cleaned and loaded and we left..allowing the woods to begin it's nightly routine.
