She's dead
Well, my almost tame doe, that had been coming in the yard for almost 3 years got hit by a car yesterday. I was a little upset seeing her lying there.
I got sorta attached to her. She's been in the yard almost everyday at all hours. I've done yard work with in 20 yards of her as she fed at the feeder. Her 2 fawns still come in. They joined up with another doe with her 2 fawns. Anyways,I was a bitbummed and just thought I'd share. |

having those deer like that is something that dont happen everyday consider yourself lucky to still have more that come in like that but a deer and car accident is something you cant do anything about though. sorry to hear about the doe.

Dude, what a bummer. [&o] Neat pictures though, experiences like that certainly don't happen often.

With Mama out of the way, one or both of the fawns may stick around.
Mama also appears to have taught the fawns your feeder, it's benefit, and your appearance as a non-threat. Learned feeding behavior like that is life-long lasting. The only possible mishap would be the surrogate doe, if she is different in behavior, the fawns may revert to her habits. Sorry to hear about that. But a great experience nonetheless. |
