WIll he come back???
Yesterday I moved my stand to a new location along a rub line. I hunted it last night, bout 6:00 i had a huge buck come in and stop on the edge of the trail i used to move my stand several hours earlier in the pouring rain. he snorted at me and bounded off not in to much of a hurry. i think he smelt where i walked. thats not the way i accesed my stand...there are a lot of scrapes and rubs on this trail will he come back?? Ps there is tinks 69 out and tinks buck lure out |
RE: WIll he come back???
Yes he will be back at 6:40 on the 26th

RE: WIll he come back???
Sure he will, after dark.

RE: WIll he come back???
There is also a possibility that he spooked because of the Tinks. I have had a few deer in the past do that to me, not sure why, possibly the smell is too strong and seems unnatural. Also, wash your boots in some no-scent soap, ScentKiller stuff, or something along those lines.

RE: WIll he come back???
i would say yes he will come back but very cautiously

RE: WIll he come back???
Yep he proably will comeback!

RE: WIll he come back???
Do you wear rubber boots? If not, I would recommend them. I wear them and walk through every puddle and muddy area I can find to wash or cover my scent. Also, I have had the same problem with tinks out early in the season.....give it a little time

RE: WIll he come back???
Get that tinks out of there, then you might have a shot. I hope you didn't pour that stuff directly on the ground.

RE: WIll he come back???
Nope, not only will he not come back but I think you scared him forever. You may not have only scared that deer but the others where you were hunting. Not only will you not see any deer but neither will any other hunter because of this.
I'm not tryin to be an arse but come on now....how many of these posts do you see a week? We weren't there to see this. You can say he smelled you, but did he really? Maybe he saw you? We can only imagine what happened. To determine a deer will come back or not is impossible. Sure, it could happen, I've had it happen to me and even killed the same deer. Will he come back? Maybe, but maybe it'll be when you're not there. But each circumstance is different and theres many variances to apply. |
RE: WIll he come back???
It's hard to tell. I've had them come back and then I've had some which moved out of the area. Too many variables to give you a definite answer. But keep your fingers crossed and give that stand a break for a few days. Rut's comin and maybe a hot doe will help you out!

RE: WIll he come back???
you really should have let the stand sit for atleast a week before you hunted it

RE: WIll he come back???
I don't know! Let us know when you find out.

Hey now, I realize us veteran posters see this over and over again, but if you check things out, you'll see there are only 9 posts for this user, he is a newbie, cut him some slack. I'm also guessing he is fairly young and new hunter, isn't the purpose of this site to learn from other's experiences and share our own experiences for the enjoyment and education of others?
I honestly got a kick out of the thread Washington did about all the "typical" questions, but as even he stated, they WILL be asked again, and it will be a never ending cycle... have you noticed how many members are on this site, upwards of 96,000, and we gain more every day! Many people will do searches on the internet for something and it will bring up Hunting.net and they end up finding their way here by "accident". How about welcome the kid to the forum and answer his question without the smartalec remarks.... we are all here for help, advice, comradary, etc... this site wouldn't be the same without the questions, now would it? As for the deer coming back, it's hard telling what really spooked him, it may not have even been you, no one has any way to prove it. At this time of the year, the bucks travel within a multi-mile radius searching for does, he may have just been passing through, and he may not come back. It may not even have anything to do with you being there, it may just be that he saw a woods with cover to walk through on his journey. If you don't see him again, don't sweat it, where there is one deer, there are many, and if you think he's the biggest buck in the woods you are probably mistaken. Just get out there every opportunity you have, learn the patterns of the deer you do see and learn what works and what doesn't on the land you hunt, that's the best approach. Hunting is about research and patience... both will bring with them some great rewards, you just have to be willing to invest time in both of them. Hang in there, your investments will pay you back greatly in the longrun. |
