Antlered Doe?
Had a doe come in Saturday. I put the glasses on her and saw 8 - 10" spikes. I thought it was a small buck but everything about her said "doe", would have dressed maybe 115 lbs., narrow, delicate neck, narrow shoulders, not at all "blocky". Then, at about 18 yards, she lifted her tail, squatted, and peed. That pretty well settled it for me. She circled to about 12 yards (I was on the ground and had the wind) and I got a good look at the spikes - a little gnarly and had some mass. A quick google revealed a wide range of estimates from the biologists but 1 in about 2700 seems a reasonable concensus. Anybody else see or shoot one? Some interesting pics on the web, including a 13-pointer.

RE: Antlered Doe?
A friend of mine was telling me he has an antlered doe, she's a 4 point and has button fawns. Thing is, she's illegal to shoot for an adult, antlered deer have to have 3 points to a side and she legally can't be shot as a doe, in PA it's antlered or antlerless...interesting.

RE: Antlered Doe?
Yep just a freak of nature for sure. You said it squatted to pea so you determined it was a doe. I have never seen a buck hike its leg if thats your argument.

Dang ABarOfSoap, now thats impressive... Bar, thanks for bringing that pic to us. That would be shock to shoot an antlered animal like that and rolling it over to field dress it and find it's missing "equipment". ;) |

Motown,
She was quartering away so I had a pretty good idea of the plumbing location. Most bucks I've seen stretch like a horse. |
RE: Antlered Doe?
I shot a 4 point doe in rifle season about 12 years ago or so. Yeah ..when I rolled it over I couldn't believe it!!

RE: Antlered Doe?
I've seen one in my life. Some dude had a 6 point doe at the check in station when I was weighing one in. Pretty cool...

RE: Antlered Doe?
If that antlered doe came back into my area...I would shoot her. That would be one cool story to tell that not many people can.
