what exactly do rub/scrapes mean?

why do bucks make rub/scrapes, is it to mark there territory from other bucks?, is it because there digging for nuts, and rubbing velevt off there antlers?, is it a path they commonly travel?...

i cant figure out the reason they make them, ive seen other bucks come right near other bucks rubs, so whats the reasoning for them if other deer ignore them?

It's their form of comunication, since they cannot talk per say, they use scent to communicate to each other who's who and where.

Yip, rubs are a visual communicator and scrapes are visual and odorous communications!
