How long does scent last?

How long does human scent last that is detectable to deer? Is it true that rain washes away human scent? Any information on this would be appreciated

RE: How long does scent last?

Strong human odor in residual form can last up to 5 days, 4 days of which a deer can detect as being danger. That's why we get scent free before scouting. Rain does help scent, though it doesn't eliminate it. Most of the airborne scent will literally be smacked to the ground while raining. Then time is the only thing to get rid of it. High wind will also help get rid of scent after you leave. The main thing is that if you plan on hunting a certain area, especially soon, treat each trip out there (if you plan on getting out of your vehicle) like a hunting trip.
