antler mass question

I seen a six point buck on my hunting land, I was'nt going to shoot this year because he only had 7-8 inch spread. My question is will he retain his antler mass next year? I realize genetics and nutrition determine antler size. I just was'nt sure if they would lose mass for size. Or can I look foreward to seeing a bigger buck with mass nxt year.

RE: antler mass question

What you are probably seeing is a 1.5 year old buck. Small narrow basket racks are typical of that age group, and yes , if you let him walk, he will be bigger next year....... as long as no one else takes him.
