help with possible wounded deer

hey guys, I was out hunting tonight and saw some doe go by and i wanted some meat in the freezer so i decided to shoot. I shot but i was unable to see where my arrow went or if it hit the deer. When it ran off out of sight, it stopped and continued snorting(it was the lead doe and the other deer were still back by me). Those doe stayed where they were and i decided i would go and get my flashlight at my house(opposite direction about 100 yards). Then as i was about to go i heard it snort again. When i came back with the light, i didnt find my arrow and i did not see any blood. All i saw was the doe up by where i last saw the possibly wounded deer.......any ideas on if i hit it or if it was a clean miss. Thanks

sounds like a clean miss but the not finding your arrow part scares me, go tommorow when its daylight and then update us again on your findings

What did the arrow sound when it hit? an arrow that hits a deer makes a noise like you hit a water jug. The next thing is to find your arrow and examine it for blood, hair, stomach contents, or fat, then you know if you need to track it further. Finding the arrow is the key.

Well, it was dark when i looked for the arrow, but the vanes are green and yellow(not good colors). I will have to check tomorrow tho.

Just check in the morning. Start in your stand, play the shot back again, and then start to look for your arrow where it should be on a pass through or a miss. Then just go from there depending on what you find.

Exactly. Did she kick up when she ran, did she hunch up, did she run like you just kicked her up with her tail waiving??

You need to find the arrow. if nowhere in sight start looking for the deer. Hope you get your deer or find out it was a clean miss.
