Yep I know. I'm kinda bummed actually since the rut in NY (at least in my area) pretty much sucked for bow-season. Oddly enough, I took my first buck with a bow this year. Usually the rut is rather high paced during bow season. This year it looks like it'll be hot during the gun season.

MJL927 I have to agree with you. This year, where I hunt in Bath, NY, the rut was non-existent too. I hunted only weekends and the weather played a big role in deer movement, windy, too warm, etc which I feel resulted in the very few numbers of deer I've seen from my stand which was so productive and active last year at this time. Anyway, I'll bowhunt hard again for Sat and Sun and call it quits. I'm not going to go this year during the shotgun season because I got shot in the back on opening day last year. I wore blaze orange, did all the right things and it didn't prevent me from getting hit. Opening day last year sounded like a war in the Bath area. It's usually bad, but last year was the worst. Guys were emptying their guns at everything that moved. Not for me. I've had it. Whatever happened to shot placement and waiting for a better opportunity? These guys think they gotta get a deer every time out or they failed. I harvested so many deer in my 33 yrs hunting that I really don't care if I ever get another one. That's not what's important to me. I like just being out there in the woods and camaradarie of good friends. Good luck you guys! Have a safe gun season.
