Safest Stand?
I was wondering what stand you guys feel the safest in? I bought a Summit climber 2 years ago, and as a guy who.....isn't that comfortable with heights....I always feel like I couldfall down at any minute.....even though, I like my stand...and I know it is safe.....How do you guys feel about ladder stands, or hang on....I have never used either....are they..comfortable? Thanks, Jay

RE: Safest Stand?
Usea safety harness and you will be as safe as you can possibly be in any stand.

Always do.

RE: Safest Stand?
Tobe quite honest, I feel safest in my Summit Goliath than any other of my climbers / lock ons, as long as I'm wearing my safety vest.

RE: Safest Stand?
According to the experts I've read ..Permanent stands are the safest, securel ladders are 2nd and climbers third.
I really can't compare climbers because I only have 2 different ones. I love the climbers because they are easier to transport and much lighter than the ladders. I have no complaints with my Summit. I always wear my harness. I put it on at my house. c7 |

RE: Safest Stand?
I just got one from Menards tonight- It is a two man stand with alot of feet room- it was like $140-- Havent set it up yet but it looks/seems sturdy as hell. plus it has a bar that goes all the way around it at waist height and two vest with safety lines..and a padded seat! <---thats the best part!

RE: Safest Stand?
Some permanent stands are very dangerous - ie the home made wooden ones that people nail to the tree.
All depends who constructs them. :)Myself and the farmers around me took those stands very serious. However; I have seen some like you were talking about and I wouldn't climb them either. |
RE: Safest Stand?
i hunt out of perminent treestands all of the time but i always where a safety harness. Plus i always make sure that the stands are well maintained.
