They've gone nocturnal in my food plot...
I put in a small plot of Green Patch Plus, it's only 45' x 30', with the hope of making this bow season a slam dunk to put some venison on the table. The problem is that I've been setup 4 times so far overlooking the plot, evening hunts, and I've only seen 1 fawn come out. I know they are eating because the plants have been chewed up a bit. So they must be coming into the plot during the cover of darkness. The plot is on a powerline and I guess they don't feel secure unless it's dark. The nearest edge is 15 feet. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar?
Food plots are great, but only if you're able to shoot something in one. There is a big corn field about 3/4 mile from my property that is still standing. I'd bet that's where the deer are feeding at dusk, because my sightings have been disappointing so far.

I've been seeing a lot of deer in the AM. Have you tried getting out there an hour before dawn. The past 2 days I've gotten 2 deer, a doe at 7:45AM Thursday and a buck at 8:00AM today. They might not be nocturnal just early risers.

I always thought sitting back of the plot in a travel route or stagging area would be better than over the plot. I would try that and I bet you see your deer.

Embarassed to say that I havn't tried the AM yet. Why? I believe that I'll disturb them if they are there in the darkness as I approach the plot. Making noise with my climber and getting set up is sure to scare them off...or not. I gotta try it some day soon .. I know I do. Also, since the rut won't start until Nov. 6 or so, I only have enough patience for a morning or evening hunt and not an all day one in the tree stand. My hunting area is a 30 minute drive from the house, so it's either all day, morning or evening.
