interested in knowing how you would hunt central illinois starting oct. 14-20 with weather being in the mid 60's in the afternoon and the mid 40'sin the mornings.

well, im from wi but around here i just hunt "out of the way" spots until the rut kicks in soi dont bust any bucks out in my rut stands

I think you are still hunting food sources and travel corridors. The boys will start checking the down wind side pretty soon, though, for early does.

I agree with ostdc. However, I am beginning to see alot of scrapes and rubs. So with this cold front moving in tomorrow through the weekend you never know the boys could begin to check out some girlies.

Locate the food and move back about 100 yards and intercept those bucks before it gets dark

If you can find aFRESHLY picked corn field, try setting up in a corner or on a path leading to the field. It seems they just have to check out what went on out there. They are curious and know there is fresh corn on the ground.
