definently NOT good to kill em all. how big is the property?? how much land surrounds it?? if its a small property you cant do much to manage it IF the surrounding land gets hunted by others. but i STILL wouldnt kill em all off. if i owned a decint chunk of land and it wasnt HUGE..like a few 1000 acres huge then i would try to make my land as attractive for wildlife as possible..then only take what i feel neccesary for the health of the wildlife and land management. sure its awesome to have 50 deer on 100acres of land. but can the LAND handle the deer? are there overbrowsing signs? theres alot more to think about in managing land and deer herds but i wont write a book...its your land..you know the land and the deer herd. but you want to manage the herd..not kill it off! good luck..

RE: how many deer

Not an easy question to answer. It depends on a number of things, most of which take time (sometimes years) to determine. How many acres are you talking about? What is the land compose of?...is it all timber and if so, what kind of trees do you have? Is there crop support in the general area? How mature is the timber? Do you have any food plots? Many, many things to consider when trying to answer this question.
My advice would be to talk to your local DNR folks to help you determine the answer to your question. They will be more in tune with the "Local" picture and probably able to help.
Good Luck.
