Underarmor Cold Gear Sittng ?
 

Does the Underarmor cold gear work to keep you warm if you spend your time sitting in a tree stand?

I was cold this weekend and need more protection but I don't want to waste the money.

I wear under armor or other synthetic for my first layer. I don't have the cold gear. The important thing is that it's synthetic and keeps you DRY. Therefore it keeps me MUCH warmer than cotton.

i bought under armour coldgear last year and i love the stuff. Not only does it keep you warm, it is so thin that you can additional layers and not feel bulky and most importantly to me it keeps you dry. After you work up a sweat, you are dry within 10-15 minutes, which ultimately keeps you warmer. I will say this, I live in the NE and our season runs late..i found it during our muzzleloader season i used my polartec thermals on days when i was sitting for a long time and when it was really cold.

You find the Polartec thermals better than the cold gear for sitting? I'm going to be sitting the bitter cold this year and want some protection.

statjunk- i find that if it is bitter cold, 15 degrees and belowand you plan on sitting all day, i would use the polartec heavyweight thermals. They come in two-weights a heavy and a medium(i have the heavy)I find if anything 15 and above the underarmour is thin( it fits tight on your body, but that is how it works)and light enought to add additional layers that you might not normally use and not feel bulky and your nice and toasty. Hope this helps...I know its a tough decision when the underarmour does not come cheap.

I think it depends on how you get to your stand. If there is a lot of hiking to it, then I prefer the Underarmor because of its superior wicking performance. If you won't sweat at all getting to your stand, then the thicker Polartec is the way to go. Just my 2 cents.

statjunk- I looked in my redhead catalog and there are 3 weights, lite, med, and expedition... i use the expedition....i also agree with what huntingson posted

Wow this is a tough decision. It depends. Sometimes I do have to travel and other times I don't. Seems like I need them both. To bad the polartec doesn't wick away like the underarmor.

polartec does have a wick system... i think they call it power dry...it helps, but if you do work up a sweat it still doesn't completley dry you like the underarmour....both are very fine products...if you exclusively hunt in very cold weather...then go with the polartec...but you do a handful of times then i would go with the underarmour
