Hunting the wind

I am very conscious of hunting the wind. I usually won't go near a stand unless the wind is perfect. However I often wonder what's walking by my stand from the other direction that I'm not hunting because the wind wasn't "perfect".
I have a couple stands (one in particular) where deer come from 2 or 3 different directions. It's on of those deals where it's the only place I could put a stand. It's along a ridge between two bedding areas. The ridge runs north to south. Most of the winds here are out of the south, north or northwest. All of which would be notvery good for hunting that stand. So it sits until there is a rare east wind.
When you have a stand that deer are likely to comefrom more than one direction what do you do? Do you take a chance and hunt ithoping they dont' come from the downwind side of you that particular day?Ordo you not risk it at all and wait for a different wind to hunt that stand.

It's certainly tough...especially with a lock on. I use a climber mostly and find it very useful for being able to adapt to this situation. The wind may not be perfect, but by moving my location....sometimes only a matter of a few yards...from one side of a path to the other, you can often beat the wind. In addition to moving, I get as scent free as I can, hunt from as high in the tree as I feel comfortable and hope for the best.
Best of luck.

You never know which direction they'll come from , roll the bones and just hunt anyway . Anything that winds you on the way in wasn't gonna show in the first place because they'd catch your scent long before they got close , so you haven't lost anything .

Scent-Lok: Waste your money, on something that doesn't work.

My .02 would be to pick the day with the "best" wind you think you are going to get and just hunt it. Who know what direction the wind will come from an hour after you get to your stand anyway.
Watch the weather as the season approaches, and see what the wind does at that stand when there are certain weather, or wind, pattern going on. You might get to the point where you can predict the wind direction at your stand pretty well without even showing up there.
