RE: yes or no?

I took a button buck last year for my first bowkill and I'd do it again. I am planning on waiting for a nice buck this year, even if I have to wait until gun season is in, because we have corn in every field around us and every year my hubby has hunted it with corn in every field, he has taken a large buck (8 or 9 pt.) I will take the first doe that comes within range for sure, just to be sure I have this year's dinner plan set forth before me. ;)

I think you should take the first deer that offers you a good clean easy shot. You're not going to believe how shaky and nervous your going to be on that first one. Get a couple under your belt first. Learn how to kill with a bow. Get some confidence. Then you'll be more prepared when bullwinkle steps out in front of you next year!

Just be proud of what you kill, or dont shoot it.

RE: yes or no?

Well i have to say TAKE THE FIRST ONE. This is my 3rd season for bowhunting and 4th for gun. And in the 3 past years of gun hunting i killed a good bit of deer. But in my 2 full years of bowhunting i didnt take anything. Untill last saturday when i shot a button buck. Normally i dont shoot button bucks but since i havent takin a deer with a bow i did really care but really i just glanced at its head and saw it had no antlers then after that i focused on makin my shot. So i didnt even notice it was a button buck. But the deer came in about 13 yds or so and i shot it ran about 40 yds and went down. I was so excited seeing that deer go down. I know for sure it was my most happiest or most rewarding hunt i ever did.
So what im sayin is shoot the first one that gives you a shot. Dont worry about bucks and dont worry what other people will think of your deer. Even if its little whos cares you went out hunting for a deer and you got one to come in with out knowing you were there and then at like 20 yds or so you shot it with an arrow.
I think thats a big acomplesment in its self. So any deer that you shoot with a bow i think is a very special trophy.
So take the one that gives you the shot!
