The Tru Talker is awesome.

Also for a 2 -1 call the MAD Buck Growl is just aweome it makes the growl and is just a great gunt call.

Given the buck/doe ratio for where I hunt......and for the area I hunt.....that growl call wouldn't make any buck around here raise an eyebrow(I don't think). I could see him yawning in hi bed.....nowinghe had the choice of MANY does, anyway.

Is anyone utilizing the grunt (low) in the early season?

Jeff

I'm betting the growl scares more deer and if you ever call in. Best stick with soft grunts and bleats.

The growl is a very dominant call and unless you have a high buck to doe ratio, most bucks will leave rather than come. Social grunts, tending grunts and trailing grunts are a better bet mixed with some doe contact calls.

I use the same soft grunts at the begining of the year and as I do into the does rut mixing in tending and contact calls.

That is one reason I love the Deer Flute from River Valley Game Calls, with the brass slide I can easily mix up the calls.

I use the true talker as well. You can make a variety of calls with it. But I usually wait to see how the area is doing with out my interaction before calling. But if I hear them when I'm going to my stand and I'm afraid I may spook them I may let out a none agressive grunt or a bleet.

I use the River Valley Deer Flute as well. Nice easy call to use and makes every sound you will need to call deer. I really like the slide instead of pushing a spot on the call, Can be taken apart and cleaned with little or no trouble also.
