Nice baldy Heidi! Where in NH are you located, and who did your taxidermy??

I'm in Hopkinton and have used Perkins in Barnstead and Stouts up in Landaff and have not been happy with either one...

that's great! I like doe mounts, it shows you are proud of your accomplishment... even *without* headgear... I heard the antlers don't taste very good anyway. [8D]

BTW, is it just me, the angle of the photo, or does she have some BIIIIG ears?

Sounds like we have treaded a lot of the same turf Heidi!! I am originally from Northwood and have hunted quite a bit in Gilmanton myself. Mostly the section of 140 between the school and the jct of 107. Haven't been to Hotspots, but I will check it out...my brother lives in New Durham on Old Rte. 11.

If you wouldn't mind, could you ask Mike if he can rehydrate ears and reset them on a mount. The ding-dong in Landaff set the ears on my last buck facing forward...they look like friggin donkey ears.

Good deer.
Great mount.
Superb attitude.

Enjoy the meat from your first deer.
Nothing will ever taste quite the same, and no other deer can take this one's place.

Congrats!

I believe that could be the first doe that I've seen mounted! Great job! It's wonderful that you thought enough of the hunt and that fine doe that you'd decide to mount her. Congrats!

Congrats!! Nice mount, too.

Don't worry about the negative comment. Jesus could post in this forum, and some would tell him that he needs to learn a thing or two...it's just how some stop the feeling of insecurity.

Again, job well done.:D

I think doe mounts are very cool.........especially with a buck next to them.......just looks natural.

That doe has some big ol' ears on her!!

"quote:

Wow, why so negative?

Anyways a deer doesn't have to have antlers to be mounted. I save the cape from every single deer I kill, and mount it later on. Not because those deer are big ones, but because they have sentimental value to me. Nice mount and congrats

That is a big deer and a VERY nice mount. I have never seen that pose before. Congrats.

This is very cool. I love the idea of getting your first deer mounted. It's something you'll remember forever. Antlers are over-rated. Some of the smartest deer in the woods are big old does. Bowhunting needs more guys like you. Good job and thanks for the uplifting post.

Very nice mount. Good work/detail. I love doe mounts. I have two, a young and an old doe. They compliment my other whitetail buck mounts.

Congradulations on a great first deer! Impressive mount.

Was going to comment on the "not overly impressed" guy, but others here have handled it beautifully.
