Major Feed times, anything to it?

I have never paid attention to major feed times, etc. when hunting or fishing, but as i continue to hear reference to it, i can't help but wonder how many of you find a direct correlation between deer movement and the majors.

Hunting in my area is very slow with low deer densities, so if there is really something to the feed times, i should probably pay attention. What about major feeds at noon? Are the deer really likely to move that much in the middle of the day?

I believe it to be something. If you want to test it, watch the times and a pasture full of cows/cattle.

I absolutely believe in it. I've been watching over the past couple of years by taking my GPS to the stand with me and I can definitely tell an increase in activity in the couple hour window, especially on the major times. I see ore ctivity by all agme not just necessarily just the deer. Obviously it is not fool proof nothing ever is but I've seen it enough to believe in it.

Tealboy,

Here's a link to a page with feed times for the next 2 weeks:
www.texasoutdoorsjournal.com/hunt_fish_tables.htm

Field & Stream always has the whole month of feed times in each issue, if you can pick up a copy of that somewhere- some other hunting/fishing magazines have it as well.

I think there is something to the times, but keep in mind that things like weather systems (major fronts approaching, hot or windy weather, etc.) tends to trump what the feeding charts say.

Also, keep in mind that these charts are for FEEDING times, so they're the most helpful for people who hunt major feeding areas, or the trails to and from these areas.

Hope this helps!
