Decoys and setting them up

I have noticed we have a bunch of deer going onto our wheat field so I took my 5 year old son out with me Sunday since I would be hunting off of the ground. Well 30 min after we got set up he needed a drink so he walked back to grandmas house. About 45 min before it got dark a very nice 10 pointer came out to the edge of the field about 60 yrds off.
I don't feel rigt hunting from the ground and found a telephone pole with a tree in front of it in the old fence row. So this morning I set a stand on the pole just below the tree top, but there is probably 300-400 yrds in front of me they could travel. I'm thinking about setting up a 3d deer target close and hoping it may bring the monster into range and was wondering if anyone has used doe juice on a decoy. I certainly don't want to spoke him since gun season is right around the corner.

I personaly have never done this but I have read and saw it done alot. I think it is definetly a good idea make sure you de scent the decoy and maybe add a little deer scent. Hope this helps.

RE: Decoys and setting them up

I used a 3D target as a decoy last year one time. All the deer that saw it acting like they knew something was wrong, but they were VERY curious of it. They all came within bow range, but were very skitish and snorted at it several times. I don't know if it would work on a mature deer or not.
