Picture of Palmated Buck
 

Thought you guys might enjoy seeing this buck my Cuddeback recorded. As you can see, he was still in velvet at the time of the pictureand it was dusk, which unfortunately made this picture somewhat dark. I blew up the picture so you could see it a little better because he was about 25 yards or so from the camera. You should be able to see he is heavily palmated on both sides. I really can't see brow tines, but let's assume he has something for brow tines just for the sake of tine identification. On the left sideyou will seeG2, & G3and you might also see the tips of G4 on the left just peaking over the palmated right side. If this is the case, he looks like he would be symmetrical. I think he will be at leasta 10 point and if he has brow tines, a 12 point. I don't really know how wide he is, but his right ear is sticking straight out and it looks like he might beoutside the ears, but the palmated horns might be just creating an illusion.

So, let's have a little bit of fun. What do you think he will gross and is he typical?...or non-typical? I have my own guesstimate for a gross, I'd like to see how close you all are to my guess. I hope I can take a much better picture......with me behind hims and my bow laying over his shoulder...haha!! Or another trail cam picture might help. Regardless, if I get another picture of him, I will update you later.

He scores a ride in my truck to the taxidermy man. I have no clue what that buck will actually score. Tines are short, don't know the width. But man the mass on him is awsome.

Scoring that buck would be difficult for me anyway , I wouldn't know if he go in the typical or non typical.
What I can tell is ... Thats a nice buck and if I had him in my sight pins , he would be on his way to my freezer and his head to the taxidremist.

Thanks for all the feedback and guesses. I am attaching a photo of a similar palmated buck I found at this site, http://www.northamericanwhitetail.com/trophybucks/tr_1004harvey/index1.html.
As a FYI, this buck grosses 197 7/8 and netted a little over 192. The mass on these freaks is what really makes them score high. I think the buck that I gotthe picture on my Cuddeback probably grosses between 175 & 185. That's my guess. Maybe time will tell.

if that deer was in my hunting location i wouldnt be worried about the score, id be hunting there everyday and try to harvest that big boy....nice very nice deer man...hes got the mass

169 7/8??????? Are you eating them wildmushrooms again???? Im not sure where you ggot that score from but hes not going to score that. Im not even sure if hell score more than 130. If he even scores that high. Imnot sure he will so my guess, is 126.

Man thats what i love in a buck. I don't care about height or spread just mass like that.
