I Splintered A Limb!!!!!!!!
I just had got back from the local archery shop were I had my new drop away rest set up on my LX. I was sighting it in when on about the tenth shot, I heard a loud smack as I drew the bow back about half way. The string jumped forward sending my new ACC to who knows where. I looked over my bow to see what had happened and saw that the bottom limb had splintered. I have only had the bow for about 2 years now. Anyone have any ideas as to what could have caused this? Has this happened to anyone else?

RE: I Splintered A Limb!!!!!!!!
Had the same thing happen I believe in the summer of 2004. I was also drawing the bow back when the limb split and it caused my finger to hit the trigger. I called thelocal shop I bought the bow from (it was also two years old)and had new limbs in less than a week. I figured it was from hundreds (maybe thousands) of shots with light 3-D arrows. I still have the bow and it shoots great. And here is an interesting note, the limb split directly underneath a limbsaver.

Mine split on top of the limb, where the little V gap is to just above the limb bolt.

RE: I Splintered A Limb!!!!!!!!
It is a Mathews LX?
They warranty the limbs for LIFE Get it to a dealer pronto and get it sent in. Mathews will put new limbs on it for free. Sucks that it is this close to season. Do you have a backup bow? |
RE: I Splintered A Limb!!!!!!!!
Yes it is a Mathews LX. I plan on having it to the shop first thing Monday morning. It is already deer season here in Kentucky, but yes I have a PSE Nova for a back-up, I just have to sight it in. Hofefully it will not take Mathews to long to fix it and get the bow back to me.
