I just read an article in Bowhunter MagWhitetail Special 2006 and it said a gut shot deer usually beds down within 100yrds of where he's shot if not disturbed and or pushed. And yes within a matter of hours will perish.

RE: Vitals
The size of its organs can vary from animal, last year a buck i shot weighed about 170 lbs, and had a insanley big heart. It was shot in the gut and 3 hours later a dubble lung shot and it still ran 200 yards, that deer had a lance arm strong heart.

RE: Vitals
When I first got into this sport I was told that I had a target the size of a paper plate. So one day I took a plate out to my 3-D target and placed it on the vitals and it was real close.
Good Hunting. |

RE: Vitals
ORIGINAL: RDHunter for lungs with the heart area inside it would be about an 8 in. werid shaped oval . |
RE: Vitals
It's actually asout the size and shape of a football.

RE: Vitals
I always hate to get a gut shot because the deer will die a slower and more painfull death, i always go for a heart shot(much much quicker) or a regular double lung shot(most common).
