I generally will stick to inside 60 yds. I took my muley this year at 53 yds. I only take the longer shots when I have exact yardage and the wind is not an issue. I can group inside 4" at 60 yds with my broadheads. I say you can shoot what you practice for. By the way the 53 yd shot was a complete pass through of a rather large mule deer buck shooting slick trick 100's on a carbom maxima 350 shaft. Most of my kills have been under 20 yds, but when you hunt the open country for mule deer you have to have that 50yd shot in your pocket or else you may not have a deer.

I voted 40. I have been practicing out to 60 yards and feel confident up to 40. I would have to know that its 40 yards though. Might have to buy a rangefinder.

I might go out a little further after I get a kill but I'm coming off a 11 point 135-140 classwound from last year. So I'm gonna try to get a doe as soon as I can. I should do alot better now that I have a rangefinder. That is why I screwed it up last year. That deer got killed by another guy that hunts this proporty in shotgun season. He found my broadhead in the backstrap. That made me Sick!!!

When I had my old bow my max range I sighted in for was 40 yards, max I would shoot a deer was 35 yards with that bow. With my new Trykon I am confident under the right conditions (no wind) that I can make a 60 yard shot on a deer. I am getting tennis ball sized groups with broadheads at 60 yards. I did shoot a coyote at 67 yards while antelope hunting the SD opener.

40 was my vote. I have a 5 pin sight that is now set every 10 yards starting with 10. Had my first shot at a deer with my bow two weekends ago. Then my bow was set at about 55lbs. I had it that low because I just got it over the summer and wanted to work on form and get comfortable with it. it wasway too easy to draw. I had my pins at 10, 20, 25, 30, 35. The nervous buck retreated to What I guessed was 35 yards, I centered i the pin on his kill zone and released. I watched in horror as my noisy arrow sailed over his back. he took off as soon as i realeased jumping the string. then what really pissed me off was that when i went back to measure and mark yardage right there It was exactly 35 yards[:@]. Had my bow turned up to 65 (they said they diddn't want to go higher for some reason i think they were about to strech the string ?) and put new string leaches on it. big diffrence lots faster now. I want to go higher 70 or 75 I think.

I won't shoot past 30 yards. I can hit my deer target at 50 in the vitals, but I use one pin, so I have to play the aim game at that range. I measure off 30 yards around my stands, if the deer doesn't come in that close, he lives to see another sunrise.

With my set up I am comfortable at 35 yards...hold right on and let go. I have shot further, with my longest shot being four years ago on a doe at 47 yards.
