NAP Spitfire Mechanichal Broadheads
 

Has anyone ever had one of these not open up on impact?
I don't want to lose a deer because of these, but want to switch to them to be able to shoot the same as my field points.
Any info on this would be appreciated.

The spitfires are one of the better made mechanicals on the market today. I have not personally heard of them not opening upon impact, but have personally seen devistating results on caribou bones with them. The fact that they don't have a ferrul or ring holding the blades in place is supposed to allow for easier opening. I've heard of people lubing the broadhead to allow for easier opening however.

I chose the shockwaves over the spitfires for a couple of reasons. I like the head on the shockwaves more, and I liked the smaller cutting diameter which creates less resistance to open than a larger diameter. The difference between the two heads is 1/4".

I would not hesitate to use them, especially on smaller game such as whitetail deer. I wouldn't count out other heads though such as the Shockwave or Rocky Mountains snyper.

I took my first deer ever using the spitfire 100 gr. this year. I don't have alot of experience with them but they do shoot exactly like my field tips and it opened up great on this 9 pt. I really like them.

I have used them for the last several years(ever since they came out),I have taken 6 deer and they worked great. open on impact and made a large exit great bloon trail.
I use the 100 grain 3 blade. I always open and close mine several times to make sure they are OK.

Give them a try,I think you gonea like them.

I to have been using the Spitfires since they came out. I have NEVER had a problem with them. I've shot everything from rabbits to Axis deer with them. I feel like the key is to check them before you use them to make sure they are opening and shutting fine. I do this everytime I take the arrow out of my quiver. Another key to these is keeping them clean. Take them apart if necessary. You won't be disappointed with them.

I took my first deer with a spitfire 100 grain 3 blade this year, it opened on impact, sliced through the shoulder blade and shattered a vertabrae. Huge hole and a lot of blood, of course being spined she never took another step.

I use the 3 blade- Pro Series Spitfire....It's the only mechanical I have ever used. I have great success with complete pass thru's and lethal cutting damage. I'am sure there are other mechanical's on the market that will work just as well. If you want one that will hit exactly were you field point does this mechanical will do that. "Caution" : when you take a mechanical out of your quiver make sure all blades are in a locked close position before you hunt with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use the 125 gr. 3 blades and haven't had any troubles. I shot 4 bucks and three does so far with them. I haven't had complete "stick in the ground" pass throughs, like my old Bear Razorbacks, But they have penetrated both sides of the deer, just not punched out the other side. They fly too true to be true. The only problems I have had was poor shot placement on my part. You'll like them

Anyone have any experience with the Rockets? The ones I am looking at have a 2" cutting diameter (100gr). I would like to try them but don't know anyone who has shot them.

I shot a nice 9 pointer this year with the 100 gr. I shot Gold Tip Gladiators for years, but switched to the Spitfire this year. I was extremely impressed with the results. I had a complete pass-thru, completely demolished the liver, and the deer went no more than 60-70 yards. I think you will be pleased with the results as well. Good luck to everyone.
