a climber stand should be fine in the rain, i have a api grand slam, i have used it in rain/sleet/snow, i just would hang from a loose bark tree, like a pine or something, they dont hold to well, but other than that believe you will be fine, just use a safety harness everytime while being in a stand

I have used my viper in the rain plenty of time with no problems

I use my summit stand in the rain. But I check even more carefully taht the stand's teeth are biting solidly into the tree and always wear my safety harness. Also, it is good if the platform has something over the metal in the rain. I actually applied some outdoor-type brown carpet to mine, for grip the rain/snow (and for even moresilence).
