mosquitoe repellent?
Hi all,
Whats the best way to repell mosquitoes without buying a bug suit. Something that would not put off scent. Or could you just use something like cutters and then use a scent eliminator over that? Maybe a home made brew? Thanks all! crutch |
RE: mosquitoe repellent?
I don't use anything and just deal with the little $%#@&*'s. The frost ought to kill em in another couple weeks.

RE: mosquitoe repellent?
ThermaCell. I used one down in GA for hogs this Spring, and wouldnt have traded it for the world...

RE: mosquitoe repellent?
Most definetly get a thermocell. I would not sit in the woods with out it.

RE: mosquitoe repellent?
try a thermocell misquito repellent unit cheap I have herd good things about them. They are good for and area around 10-12ft depending on how windy it is, they attach to your belt or to your tree stand. http://www.mosquitorepellent.com/realtree.html

If you are in a tree stand of blind, Get a thermocell. I got one two years ago and have not had a problem since. The thremocell also is scent free.

RE: mosquitoe repellent?
Defiently get a Thermacell. I use mine every time I'm hunting. Some of these Georgia mosquitos look like lil' turkeys flying around you. HAHA

RE: mosquitoe repellent?
I'm gonna have to get one of those Thermacells. How is it not detected by the deer, if a mosquito can smell it.
For now - I treat my clothes with permanone. It has an active ingredient of Permathrin in it. Keeps them away for the most part from your clothes, but they still bite my neck, face, ears, hands, and fly up my nose. |
RE: mosquitoe repellent?
thermacell for sure!
|
RE: mosquitoe repellent?
ThermaCell just came out with a new mosquito repeller that runs and batteries and you can put it in your pocket. Repels about a 12'X12' area around you. Look for it on Cabela's site or do a search on Google for it.

Thanks again!! crutch |
RE: mosquitoe repellent?
Thermacell is awesome. Its amazing how the bugs quit biting after you turn it on.
|
RE: mosquitoe repellent?
Thermacell is awesome. It's always in my pack during early season and I break it out when needed. I also use Permanone on my clothing which seems to work well. Putting it on my face mask helps keep them away from my head, neck...and from flying up my nose. lol:D

RE: mosquitoe repellent?

|
RE: mosquitoe repellent?
ThermaCell. is thebest thing I've ever seen,,,works great
|
RE: mosquitoe repellent?
I have a Thermacell as well. I just love this product and this will be my 3rd season using it. I have also used Scent Shield's product called No Stinin' Bugs. It does have a faint smell of DEET but most, if not all spray on repellants are going to have DEET. And I never had a problem with a deer down wind while I was using the repellant.
|
RE: mosquitoe repellent?
Just be real careful if you choose to use products that have DEET in them. Although DEET is THE BEST insect repellent that there is, it is also a plasticizer in higher concentrations (it eats plastic), so it can wreak havoc on your bow equipment, fletching, nocks, rests, sights, aftermarket camo applied to your bow, etc. basically ANYTHING plastic. Just be real careful when using it.
