RE: Got busted - now what!?

I agree, I'd leave that stand idle for a week or so.
3 deer have spooked there, they say they leave tell tale scent I think, from thier hooves when scared?
This will cause other deer to either avoid the area or be "on guard" coming thru, making it much harder for you to get on them and draw without being picked off.
I don't know how big of an area you have to hunt there but there must be another spot you can hunt for a week or so?
I also do not know how many days you hunt per year but it would seem if you are only seeing a few deer per year you may be in the wrong spots?

Do you have another tree stand?
If not, you could either pick up another one, doesn't need to be anything fancy, a 30-40.00 hang on and some steps will kill just as many deer as a 200.00 stand. It won't be as comfy maybe but you'll still be hunting.
Or, you could go in and pull that stand at a time of day the deer will not be there. Might be the middle of the night. Then re hang it in a different spot.

I rarely hunt the same stand morning and night and never hunt the same stand more than twice in a row.
You have to keep them from patterning you. They are very good at it, their life depends on it.

I am lucky, I have been bow hunting for more than 20 years and have accumulated lots of stands by buying one or 2 every few years.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

And check your arrows before ech hunt so it doesn't bite you again!

IF YOUHUNT THE SAME STAND JUST ON WEEKENDS AND NOT DURNING THE WEEK. DO YOU THINK IT WOULD BE TO MUCH. I WOULD MEAN BEING THERE 4 TIMES IN ONE WEEKEND NOTHING DURNING THE WEEK.

That would be too much for me.
The deer will eventually figure out that you are there, even down to when you are there.
If you are going to hunt 2 days in a row I would want at least 4 stands
That's just me YMMV

I'd leave the spot cool down for a week also. But please check your equipment, Arrows, Nocks, Broadheads etc. So when that next chance comes along you give it your best shot! Good Luck

I tell ya what. I see no real need to let the stand sit for a week. A couple days is all. But dont over hunt the stand on the weekends either, youll burn it out. Sounds to me like you have a pretty good spot there. If all else fails get another stand and put it somewhere else on the property. How big is the property? Also please make sure you check ALL OF YOUR EQUIPMENT from top to bottom from nock to br.head before you leave for the woods, when you get in the woods, and when you get in stand. Anything can happen between home and the stand. Also I have been bow hunting since 96 so 10 years or so, sure im not the greatest bow hunter in the world but from past experiences,by studyingthe animal you are hunting, you can make the best of a bad situation. I have been busted more times by old does than by any mature 8, 10, 12, 14 pointer I have come across. Does are very very skeptical animal, they know when something isnt right, ifa branchis out of place that they have seen hundreds of times, that will put them on high alert. Good luck to you. I cant wait to get out there tomorrow morning.

45 Acres, but most of that property is "fields" full of weeds.
The area that is wooded is connected to other wooded property....just not property that I have permission to hunt on.
Again, NO pressure on this property. The owners don't do much with it any more.
I think I'll try this spot again tomorrow. I've got a pretty good patern on these deer....
I'll let you know how it works out!
Thanks everyone!
