X Scent vs. Scent Lok
I've been looking for some new camo for this season and I had decided on a scent lok outfit. (I'm not looking for a debate on the effectiveness of scent lok) In my search I came across X scent garments and I've found little information on it.
I tried the search but came up empty. Does anybody have any experience with this? Pro's and con's appreciated. Thanks, Peter B |
RE: X Scent vs. Scent Lok
X-scent has silver ions in the fabric to reduce odor due to bacteria.Get the long johns for under your camo, thats what I'm doing this year.

RE: X Scent vs. Scent Lok
They have a website with their information on it regarding the technology involved in the stuff. I've read about it myself, and I've wondered if anyone here has used it to any extent?

RE: X Scent vs. Scent Lok
I use x-scent socks with my rubber boots. They are designed to stop bacteria that cuases odor using microscopical silver particals. You could seriously use these socks for a week withhout washing them and they wont smell. These socks are also being used by our Armed forces to help fight bacteria while in the field. My friend uses the x-scent base layer and has had alot of luck with them. I use the scentlok base slayers and love them too. I guess its just personal preference. x-scent is cheaper tho.

RE: X Scent vs. Scent Lok
I have been using the Medalist X-static for years now I don't think I have had carbon on in at least going into my 6th year now.
What I like is like MOmightymite said very lite long johns I can wear this stuff all year even in early season when it is hot, or late as part of the layering to stay warm. It never wash out so you can wash them over and over. |
RE: X Scent vs. Scent Lok
I use the Exscent X-Static long underwear with rubber boots and camo washed and sprayed with Scent Killer, and I've had deer withinfive yards of me numerous times. The X-Scent stuff can be washed every time you wear it and it won't hurt its effectiveness.

RE: X Scent vs. Scent Lok
I have two X-static shirts and they work great: they do not claim to capture scent as carbon lined clothing is supposed to do, but they greatly reduce the body odor due to bacteria forming.
Cotton clothing will begin to smell by the end of the day. Some polypropelene based clothing smells HORRIBLE by the end of the day. By comparison, the silver thread based clothing does not smell (at least to the human sense of smell). I like it asa base layer for normal use: the effectiveness does not decrease with time. You simply wash it and it goes on working as usual. While it does not remove scent, it greatly reduces the scent produced due to bacteria by the end of the long day of hunting. Great stuff. |
RE: X Scent vs. Scent Lok
I can only go by own experience. I used X-scent socks and Silvermax Medalist long underwear and headcover. After a day of early season (very hot) bowhunting, when I took off everything, I didn't detect any odor from me or my clothing. This, IMHO, is a more economical alternative to Scent Lok.
I killed three deer last year with the longest shot being 24 yards. As far as I can tell, I didn't have any deer wind me. |

Guys
Thanks for the info. It looks like I'll give the x scent and a leafy 3d suit a try for this archery season. |
