Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
Planted food plot a couple weeks ago, placed trail camera in corner of plot and got this picture of a nice buck. Camera was apparently placed at the wrong angle and only got the bucks body and some of its rack. If you notice very closely you can see two longer tines in the bottom left hand corner of the picture and a partial point on the lefthand side of the picture. What kind of spread do you think this buck might have?
The deers body has pretty good size. Taking the camera back out to the same sight in a couple days and place it on a different tree, at a different height in hope of getting some more pictures of this nice buck. I'll keep you posted if any new pictures are taken. Thanks |

RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
Not much to go on there bud.
|
RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
Here it is defined, hopefully it will let you better decide what kind of estimated spread this buck might have.
|
RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
Maybe this picture might be better.
|
RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
18 3/4" inside. :D
|
RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
Union, there's nothing wrong with this site. It's that pic that's BS.:D:D
|
RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
:eek:15.21 inch spread to be exact.
|
RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
Personally i think its a doe with its head in between two sticks.
|
RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
That's what a friend and I thought it might be, between 18"-20" inside spread. Hopefully we get another picture of it soon and then we'll have a better guestimate of how big it actually is.
Anyone have any guesses? Sorry about the picture. |
RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
Anymore guesses? Only serious people respond, don't need your smart @ss comments, trying to get a serious response.
Thanks and good hunting. |
RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
Well, I was going to tell you exactly... BUT... I'm not feeling real serious tonight. Your picture leaves a lot to be desired. It makes it impossible really. BUT, off the top of my head I'd give it 18 inches inside... if the rack is complete. Heck, it might be broken off at the G2 for all we know.
P.S. Don't come in here and get your fir up right off the bat. There's nothing wrong with the site as far as posting pictures. You just have to know the system and available options. There are a couple real simple ways to accomplish it depending on your picture size and abilities. Secondly, you can't expect us to all of a sudden drop our foolishness and behave just because you came along. We'll act like idiots if we want to, right Squirrel? |
RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
Whatever. Are they always so rude in Maryland?
|
RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
Union...seriously bud. You put a photo of a buck on here that only shows the top of 3 to maybe 4 points and you want every member of HNI to guess it's width. How is that suppose to be done with the photo you provided? IMPOSSIBLE. Get another photo of this buck or move on to something else.
Maybe the points we are seeing are it's main beam crab claws that are growing straight up and those aren't actually split G2's. Maybe the buck doesn't have any other points except for those. Hmmmm? What do you think? I'd get those inferior genetics out of the woods. ![]() |

RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
I see I'm dealing with a bunch a 3rd. graders tonight on this site. I asked what I thought was a fairly "simple" question as well as a "guess" concerning an "estimate" of how wide a deers rack was, I didn't want some equation about how long the G-2's were and what if this and what if that, a simple answer to my questionand all I got (with the exception of (1) was a bunch of arrogant JA's.
As for my comment earlier about this site being BS, I was wrong, it was my error because my file was too big to download the picture properly, I understand now and I apologize but their is no explanation for the other "crap" and unprofessional comments from you few @-------! I guess people from Maryland are about the same as Pennsylvanians when it comes to helping someone out with a fairly simple question. |

NOt much of a sense of humor there huh?

RE: Nice Rack Buck- Need You Help to Estimate Spread
My estimate by looking at the distances from what I can see is maybe 17-19 inches inside. A better pic would be nice though. Also Union, many of us have been here since this site was launched and have as much if not moreknowledge in deer & deer hunting as some of the pros. You came on this site wanting advice and some of us gave you a resonable answer and some didnt, that maybe because the picture you posted was not well enough for posting. It looks like you may need to get some of your own knowledge on how to place cameras so when the cam takes a pic youre not right ontop of the deer. Or try moving the camera down 6-8 inches on the tree. Also many cameras recomend you angle the camera down slightly for better photo taking.I beleive there is a section on here that deals with game cams. Someone correct me if Im wrong please. Ifnot, more than 90% of us here own cameras and are more than happy to help you out in placement, height, care, etc. Personally id like to see some better pics of the buck that you shared with us. Im sure hes a nice looking buck, but without seeing more of the rack its hard to get a good judgement. Good luck and have fun at this site, thats what were all about. Experiment with your camera a bit.
