deer tics i hate em

[:@][:@][:@]went out today to attach a bow hook and a pull up string
to one of my sons ladder stands that i had forgot to bring with me when i placed the stand two weeks ago when the temps was in the 50s in the mornings, no tics then. now its in the 80s again. i had run out of permonone spray and something told me not to go but i did anyway.
came home and noticed my pants looked like they were alive. PANIC ATTAC!!!!! took a bleach and water shower to rid them. any one else have them as bad as we do in southern Indiana?? they seem to favor the old coal mine ground spoilbanks.

Are you sure it wasn't chiggers? I have had several ticks on me but the way you describe it was hundreds. Better spray your vehicle down if it was.

Chiggers could be that too.

just wanted to let you know that my husband got lymes when he got into a nest of deer ticks...he had hundreds of them on him...and it's an evil evil disease if gone untreated....just be careful...i wouldn't wish it on anyone.

The reason for the tobbasco is they pull there heads out themselves and dont have as much of a chance for infection..if you just pull them usually there heads will stay in which could be bad

Ya that's bummer.. I had a similar situation and I'm from So. IL.. I found a couple tics on me but I looked at my legs and they also seemed to be alive..lol But in my case there were hundreds of tiny red chiggers. I brushed them all off and got rid of the few tics... Just something we have to deal with in our necks of the woods..

went tocheck my deer cam yesterday, & got home getting a shower, and noticed one on my shorts and one was already stuck on my leg, O SH?T, didn't have time for any tobasco, snatched him out. think i got all of him out. have a brother that had lyme from a tick a few years back, the doc didn't think he was going to make it. check yourself.......

I hate deer ticks. They are horrible here in southern illinois. Always check yourself after coming back in from the woods.

It has been my experiance that deer tics are sooo small ( the size of a pin head) that they really can't be gripped with anything, like a regular tic can. I've had only 2 deer tics on me everand I was lucky enough to find them and use a straight edge razor to pluck them off. They are quite hard to see unlike regular tics.Anybody agree with this?

I hate ticks, but I have been using the permethrin spray on my clothing religiously and have been very fortunate not to find any ticks at all. Knock on wood! I know they are there my friend has been getting them and I have gooten them until I used the spray.
YOu must follow the directions on the can! MY buddies think they can just spray real quick and they will be good, WRONG! I saturate my pants the night before and hang to dry. Its suposed to be good for 6 weeks and through washings, but I treat them every time I launder. I have gone through 2 case of the 9 oz cans since the spring time.

Early In- as far as tick size, deer tick come in three sizes actually 4, Larve, nymph and adult male and female. the Females are redish in color. the males are slightly smaller and black. The Larvae is the smallest and can barely be seen.

defanantly not chiggers, i have had them both. deer ticks are tan colored.
chiggers are red in color. a deer tic bite is in my opinion is worse than a dog tic bite. they seem to drive you crazy with the itching. are you guys pulling my leg about the tobasco sauce:eek:seems like it would set you on fire in the bite area. come on guys are ya??:)

think your right, i have a card with pics and size of ticks, the deer tick is actually very small, kinda red in color. probably the size of a pencil led point, not for sure, but i think you can contract the lyme from any of them. also read the tick has to be embeded in your skin for12 to 24 hour and be infected for you to get it.

I got covered with them last week when I was scouting out a piece of public ground. My daughter counted 161 bites on one leg from my knee to my ankle. Both legs were covered! I went to the doc and he gave me a couple weeks worth of antibiotics to fend off Lyme's disease.
