Pattern whitetails

Hey folks, just thougt id start out with some of my favorite times to pattern deer. my experience has been around Holloween, get on a rub line or a hot scrape. Stay there as long as possible, they WILL show up.

I agree, late October and the first 2 weeks of november is really exciting. You never know what might show up.

Just finished a book that took things a step farther in a manner of speaking. His advise was more patterning what you actually see one do. Date, conditions, time of day, things like that. He was not in favor of hunting the usual signs such as scrapes and rubs. Pay more attention to detail would sum it up best. Put together the info over as many seasons as it takes to get what your after. Thought his advise was worth the price paid. Hunting one deer this year usingthe sameapproach.

Patterning is simple...thought scrape lines with rubs are good, always remember this.
Where the girls are, the boys will be too.
This applies to humans as well as deer...enough said.

Exactly.

Hunt the does and you'll find the bucks in the later season(s).

I like to take it a step further and follow that sign towards the bucks bedding area. Then, around Oct. 20, I start hunting trails leading from his bed to the main feeding area. It seems that around that time is when mature bucks start leaving their beds earlier in the evening. I like to be there when that happens.[:-]
