Ok...This is getting ridiculous now.

Yet another person auctioning off their hunting rights.

Now...the first onewas interesting. This is ridiculous
I hope this doesn't become a trend.

I wonder about the legalities with contracts etc...if someone actually takes the bait and the seller still hunts.

Your right Campo, it's getting ridiculous and think about his, it's actually a black eye for hunting, it shows hunters as nothing more than greedy, that they could care less about hunting if they are paid money.

For me, I won't take $ to stop hunting, I'll be sitting in a tree waiting to arrow a beautiful buck come Sept 30th. I couldn't give it up.

You would, most likely, be arrested. Maybe the auctioneers arent thinking that it is that serious, but when you get a notarized promisory note...IT IS LAW! You have to abide. If you are found to be in violation of your promisory note, then you can be arrested. Now, the matter of them catching you, that is another issue.
If someone was to win the auction, they should give up their hunting rights..plain and simple. He who is bold enough to put his rights up for auction should abide when his rights are bought.
Just because these two hunters are bold doesnt mean that they shouldnt be honest.

How would anyone know if this moron was even a hunter? Probably some kid trying to make money for not doing something he wasn't gonna do anyways.

RE: Ok...This is getting ridiculous now.

I think I'd much rather see a PETA freak put himself up on auction to hunt for a year...he might see what he's been missing out on and try to change that moronic institution from the inside.

Woa woa woa...I was not, at all, being rude, cynical, or in any way offensive. I was just pointing out a fact, cause I am sure alot of people have been thinking that same thing.
No worries man...It is Friday, that I know, my students have been letting me know all day.
All I have to say is....is it 3 o' clock yet:D

No, I didn't think you were being rude at all. I just wanted to make sure that people knew I wasn't serious. I have been known to overdo sarcasm before ;)

1. Guys this is a joke

2. If he signs a contract and then breaks it he can not be arrested. The promisee(seller) can only file a lawsuit for damages. This will never be a criminal case, only a civil

Havn't we all. I should note the first auction which generated the first reaction from our community is no longer there. It was there less than an hour ago when I started this post, because I typed in "hunting rights" and got two hits. Now there is only one, and that is the second auction.
Me thinks the seller realized that this was idiotic, or that Ebay decided you cant auction off rights.

Thank you for the clarification. I asked a friend of mine in law school and he said that the person would most likely be arrested. Didnt mean to spread false information. Sorry boys. [:-]

Good point, Atlas. He may even be a hunter......with an inflated sense of value RE: his hunting prowess and his overall intelligence.

God knows there's plenty of those guys.

OK First this case is a person vs a person not the state vs a personSecond there is an issue of jurisdiction.Third this case would most likely be settled in small claims court.

What do you believe the guy would be arrested for? Breech of contract

RE: Ok...This is getting ridiculous now.

Personally I don't think its a big deal. If a guy can get someone to pay him an absurd amount of money to not hunt for a year, more power to him. Heck for all we know he gets paid to sit out a year and uses the money for a once in a lifetime type hunt the next year.

The first one i thought was funny..but now its gettin dumb.. It may be the same person selling the same thing to diffrent people.. I agree.. i dont think ebay will let it go on muchlonger once people start complaining about how the "promise" was broken...
