Evaluate my hunting spot.

The dots are my treestands. I plan on sneaking down the tree line to the river and walking along the river until I'm near my stand. Then I'll sneak up the bank and get to my stand. It's really my only option besides walking across the soybean fields. I don't want to do that out of respect for the landowner. Any suggestions about stand locations or approach routes?

At your second stand in from the direction you walk, how far is it from the field to the river, that is a natural funnel and a very good location and depending on how they enter the bean field, I'd concentrate on those two locations but you would know bettet than I.

If you can come in from the river(boat) in the morning. You can sneak in behind the deer while they are in the field feeding. I use this with great success, I have a 12 ft john boat and a Electric trolling motor. The motor is important.
Other benifits are
No sweating walking to the stand
Not leaving your scent every where
I can hunt stand more than normal without ruining them.
No noise going to and from your stand.

If the funnel by your second stand is real narrow, you are better off hunting the big ends of it. Because if you get busted bt deer, they will avoid using it. Be careful. Good luck.

You're right Rob. That second stand is a funnel about 50 yards wide between the river and the field. It's up on an oak ridge full of acorns. There are scrapes all over that oak ridge funnel. I'm excited about that stand.

That third stand from where I park looks promising too. It's about 50 yards northeast of a bedding area. There are 3 deer trails that converge before the bedding area. I'm about 20 yards east of the intersection. I hope to ambush the deer traveling back to the bedding area in the morning from the field. I'll have to get there at least an hour before sunrise.

The fourth and furthest stand is where I shot a decent 8 pt last year. It is very thick with all the summer vegetation now but their are deer tracks there too.

The boat option is a great idea. Too bad I sold my canoe and trolling motor last year. I'm really kicking myself now!

I would put a stand right on that creek. Them big bucks will stay tight to it crusing up and down it looking for does. I hunt a very simular area and next to the creek by one of them tight funnels that Rob mentioned would do it. Good luck

The bottom stand picked by mathews bot is a good spot. Corners into feilds make good funnels also. The first one at the top he pointed out looks like a good funnel also.
