Got my 40 down!!!
No, not the 40 ounce but my 40 yard pin.;)
I have been having some problems lately with shooting. I tend to pull away right after the shot and not follow through. For me, following through is easier said than done. Well boys and girls, I got it down today. I was at the range and was gonna call it quits but wanted to get one more round in. They have a poster deer target at 40 yards facing at a slight angle. There is a 1" dot on his kill zone. I draw back, concentrate, squeeze, shoot, follow thru, and smiled b/c my arrow was very near the dot. I could hear the next two arrows smack and the last was only off 2". My next goal is to do this at 50 yards. I always thought I was concentrating while shooting but obviously not enough. Just wanted to share.:) |
RE: Got my 40 down!!!
I thought you were working on your 40 yard sprint times. Like you were going to chase after the deer.
Just kiddin' Congrats there duc. Wish I could say the same for myself. |
RE: Got my 40 down!!!
Hey bud...long time. Are you all settled in the new place yet?
Get rid of that Trykon and you will succeed as well.;) |
RE: Got my 40 down!!!
I can't believe I wasted my 300 post on you.

ORIGINAL: Bols I can't believe I wasted my 300 post on you. :D Yeah, I'm settled. When are you coming to visit? I don't know. My job is sending me to Ohio for 5 days in October. Actually, right after bow season opens.[:@]I'll be in the company's whip so I don't think I'll be able to swing by. I'll get out that way sometime though. Thanks Dave. I'm sure you got yours ready to go, huh? |
RE: Got my 40 down!!!
All I need is to touch up my fixed blades and replace the target blades withsharp ones and I'm good to go.
I know I should practice more often but this Tribute has made daily shooting sorta boring, as long as I do my part it is ON- no challenge in my backyards 30 yard range anyways. (that is all myback yard will allow) I did go over to a buddies house to practice at 40& 50. The 40's were looking good so I marked my slider for 40 on the Tribute and set a pin on my Pats extreme sight. Then on to the 50's.Itstarted outgood, then faded then good again. I realized 50's weren't for me unlessI could practice at 50 daily. SO I stepped back up to 40 and smiled again. I usually try to set my stands & pick tree's that will only allow for a 30yds shot max. Sometimes it winds up being 35ish, but I know anything within view could be had (Lord willing). Good luck to ya! |
RE: Got my 40 down!!!
I hear ya Dave.
I practice at these yardages just for self-enjoyment. The woods I hunt would probablynot allow a 40 yard shot. I would be sort of nervous at taking a 40 yard shot w/out a range finder or knowing that its a true 40 yard shot anyways. Good luck to you too bud!:) |
