Scent-Lok suits
I want to purchase a scent-lok jacket, pants, headnet, and gloves. Before I buy I just wanted to know if anyone has had good results...bad results, or not really a change in sightings. Thanks in advance guys.

RE: Scent-Lok suits
I just started using scent lok this year (pants and Jacket only). This AM (before light) I spooked some deer from under the stand and the wheezed but hung around the area. They wern't down wind at the time so I don't think they smelled me. They did however circle down wind (20 mph strong wind) and continued to wheeze and ran off eventually. So I don't know if they could smell me all that well or were just spooked from the get go. Later in the AM three doe came in at 20 yards straight down wind of me and bedded down. They never acted nervous. So I guess maybe it helped. By the way, I keep myself and hunting cloths scent free and don't dress until I get to the field. That I think is key, but the scent lok I think helps also. Hope this helps.

OMH, I was on the ground, with 5 does all around me a couple weeks ago. One was 8 yds and circled downwind to check me out. She then returned to browsing. I have the Savanna jacket and pants. I also spray myself with odor eliminator.

RE: Scent-Lok suits
If you conduct a topic search on this site you will find plenty of in depth posts. I will just say that carbon suits are 1 step in a scent reduction practice that will put you on and in front of more deer!!! Just understand that it is impossible to totally eliminate all human odor but with all the technology we have available, it is possible to reduce our scent to trace levels. These trace levels are what I believe allows me to kill more and bigger (older) deer. For instance,if a deer smells you at 25 yards.... he folds inside out and you end up blowing him out of the area for the rest of the season, NO second chance!!! Now,... if you have taken steps to "eliminate" your scent then maybe when that buck detects you at the same distane instead of actually smelling 25 yards away you smell 250 yards away!!! As you can imagine, that wouldn't spook a buck nowhere near as bad. In fact with farm country deer it probably wouldn't cause a deer to even hesitate. I can also say the same thing about enetry and exit trails. I feel this is where most hunters educate their deer. Get sloppy here and you really screw everything up!!! With scent control, when that deer hits your trail he may think the scent is many hours old instead of red hot fresh. For the record, I store my hunting garb in scent-free bags and then don't put my gear on until I reach my hunt area. I pull on a Scent-Lok liner suit and then over that I wear a ScentBlocker camo suit. Add the Scent-Lok hood and gloves and then spray myself head to toe with Carbon Blast and I feel like I have an edge on the scent control game. |

RE: Scent-Lok suits
I bought a camo jacket, pants, hood and gloves this year. I sat on a log in full view of a 6x elk at 30 yards for 15 minutes and didn't get busted so I am a believer. I think the hood is most important and they are a lot softer than the old ones and have ear holes. Good hunting.

RE: Scent-Lok suits
YOU CAN GET SCENT LOK, OR THE SCENT BLOCKER SUITE, DIFFERENT COMPANIES, BUT THEY BOTH USE THE SAME SCENT CONTROL SYSTEM. LOOK INTO EACH OF THERE BROCHURES, YOU WILL SEE THAT ITS MADE BY A COMPANY CALLED "ALS ENTERPRIES, INC" WHEN I WAS LOOKING INTO BUYING A OUTFIT I LOOKED HARD, AND FOUND THAT THE SCENT BLOCKER SUITE WAS CHEAPER IN PRICE THEN THE SCENT LOK. I GOT JACKET, BIB/PANTS FOR $250 I THINK THATS THE PRICE FROM SPORTSMANS CATALOG. BROUGHT THE GLOVES, FACEMASK FROM CABELAS.

RE: Scent-Lok suits
I have used the Scent Blocker jacket, pants, gloves for two years now and think they are absolutely great. I just shot an 8 point buck this weekend at 10yards and he didn't even know I was there. But it's not just the suit, it's the methodology. I dress in the field, keep my clothes in one of those plastic totes and carry it around in my car. I also spray myself with Carbon Blast after I am dressed in the field and strategically place scents around my stand. The suit alone is good but everything else makes it that much better. I use a standard Neck Gaitor, with the Scent Blocker face shield that came with the jacket sewn into the gaitor. This is just better than wearing a hood.
Happy hunting and stay scent free... |
