RE: arm gaurds?

I invested in an arm guard shoryly after getting into archery back in the early 90's. The reason was simple.....PAIN. While first practicing and trying to figure my form for shooting I made the mistake of not bending my elbow enough, and as you can figure slapped the forarm with the string on release. yeah it stung a little but I went on shooting and again did the same thing. The pain came the a few hours later when my whole forarm turned literally dark purple from some nasty bruising. I also definitly use an arm guard when hunting. More so to keep the sleeve of my jacket out of the way when shooting, but you never know if that string slap will happen again in the heat of the moment. Godd hunting to all and be safe.

Here is a pic of my hunting armguard:

Here is a pic of my practice and sometimes hunting armguard. The holes make it cool in warmer weather.

i always hunt in long sleeves and always have a arm gaurd on you have nothing to lose except a nice deer without one. its a good idea.

Armguard for late season hunting.....absofrigginloutely.

If it keeps you from throwing a bad shot due to sleeve contact it is worth it.

If you use the arm guard during the summer to keep arm slap at bay, then you should think about shortening your draw length a touch or working on your form, but during the winter with bulky/warm layers on, it is pretty cheap insurance.

I used to wear one all the time. I also used to have the string hit my forearm from time to time and especially didn't want string interference when hunting. In my case, however, I was shooting a draw length that was significantly longer than I needed.

I made the drawlength adjustment, adjusted my shooting style a bit and now shoot better than I ever have and never need or use an arm guard, regardless of the weather.

I wear one when I hunt with a jacket, just to keep the jacket against my arm. Other than that I never wear one. If you hit your arm with a bow in a regular long sleeve shirt or short sleeves your are doing something wrong or you bow doesn't fit you.

I have never hit my arm with a bow, and I have shot some with sub 6 inch brace heights.

i wear one that matches my camo. Its a real thin material so it doesn't take up much space in my pack. It works and i dont wonder if my string is going to hit my sleeve anymore.

I don't wear one, as I rarely hit my arm and if I do, it is a slight hit and does not seem to affect accuracy noticeablly.
