I had the same exact experience when i first bought my climber and was practicing, i know what you were going through only mine was a bit worse, i didnt have mine tied off. But I was using a climbing harness So i was able to slowly creep my way down the tree to the base of the stand and hook back up, and climb up to the top part of theclimber

I did that once. I was about 25 feet up. I shinnied down the tree. It was a Wild Cherry and I was wearing a t-shirt. I was bleeding when Ireached the ground.

I am glad it worked out good for you and thanks for the info. I think we all do some stupid things at times.

i have had the same thing happen to me. i was using a tree lounge and i didnt have the bottom part which is the slimbing aid attatched to the top part. i was wabout 30 feet up and my climbing aid slipped and it fell all the way to the bottom. luckily i had my cell phone. I called my brother and he came out to were i was with a rope. he unlatched one side of the climbing aid so i could pull it up the tree. he tied one end of the rope to climbing aid and threw the other end to me. i pulled it up and somehow got the climbing aid wrapped around the tree and got down safely. it was a stupid move. i will always have it tied now. like MOTOWNHONKEY said it is best not to panic. but im 15 years old and it was hard not to but everything was easier when i did.

My son and I keep our tethers tied to our climbers. It's convenient.....and it's a reminder to:

make sure you have your harness when you pack your stand
