Bad day at the range!
I have been working on my bow for several weeks now. First changed to a peep without rubber strap,it spun on me during a shoot and Ichanged back to a hunter peep with strap. When I had tried to spin the string and loop to get the other peep torotate during the shoot I must have changed my nock point. Got that straightened out and my sights were off, corrected my sight and trying out some new slick tricks, bow was shootin' sweet and all of a sudden my peep wouldn't rotate fully and the cam made a clunking noise. Investigation showed the string starting to seperate in front of the cam. I amthinking maybe this ain't myyear to shoot great scores in my broad head league. As a matter of fact maybe I should stay out of my climber this year and hunt from the ground with this kind of luck.

It will get better, hang in there, just a bad day.

Thanks! I needed that.

RE: Bad day at the range!
It will indeed get better and it could be a whole lost worse.
Here is a pic of my last bad day at the range. The roof collapsed while I was shooting my pistol. The retaining wall fell outward and crushed 8 vehicles including mine. Like I said, it could be worse. ;) |
RE: Bad day at the range!
I hope that wasn't one of your roofs:D

RE: Bad day at the range!
Guess I don't feel so bad after all!!!

RE: Bad day at the range!
Are you shooting a Mathews Switchback? I'm seeing the serving coming apart on the lower cam.

RE: Bad day at the range!
WOW Reacher, I remember seeing that on the local news. Must of had some real pucker factor!

Hang in there, and work it out!
Dad gummit I hate it when things "unravel" with my bow! Keep the faith. Be methodical/systematic in your approach to fixing the problem. Good luck!!! |

Sorry about your bow and car but man...That picture is classic with the big white letters spelling "Roofing" on the back of the truck.
Again sorry about your car. [&:] |

A lot of things can be screwy at times. Go with the flow. BUT, what is making the cam clunk? Possibly cam lean and as you approach full draw the string is "clunking" into the module groove? How bout a loose module? I think I'd definitely find this out.

RE: Bad day at the range!
After closer inspection it is the cable that attaches to the cam (single cam). I am shooting a Cabela's Outfitter PL series bow made by PSE, I was told this is a typical wear pattern seen on single cams. Funny you should say that about a Matthews, one of the guys I shoot with has a brand new Matthews and he had the same problem you are referring to. He took his bow back to the shop and they replaced the string. I think I am going to be looking for a new bow, the guy at the shop fixed my cable by adding some serving wraps to it to compress where it started to seperate. He also told me that one of the problems is the bow has been maxed out on draw length and that is what is causing such a sharp angle on the cam to cause that seperation. It seems they took a 28" draw length and tried to stretch it to as close to 29" as possible.
