I had to shoot a little guy this evening

I took my daughter out this evening to do some scouting in an area where I have taken deer in the past. We were looking at a doe and two fawns just off the road when we spotted this buck laying 30 yards from the truck just up ahead. With her going through the roof with excitment, well I had to shoot the little guy. The big 4 x 5 Mulie that I have on my game camera will have to wait until next year.

I saw the buck go down not 40 yards from where it was shot, but I had to let her track him. She found blood a few feet from where it was laying and did a great job following the trail. She was very proud of herself because she found the downed deer. We had a great evening, one neither of us will forget.

This deer will mean more to you in the long run anyways.. Look at her smile.. Good experiences with hunting when they are young tend to led to kids who will hunt when they get older and this gives you and your daughter a great bonding moment... All and all a great day. I know I love to fish but my best days fishing now are when I take my daughter down t the canal and we catch bluegills and crappie withe the occasional very small bass.. Of couse, she loves playing with the bait being that she is 3.

Kinda puts everything in perspective doesn't it..............As far as "trophies" go, I would say you will have a hard time topping that.

Yep, she is hooked. She helped me all summer put up cameras and check them. She thought it was great to put the card in the camera and look at all the pictures on the way back to town. She helped dress and skin it as well, she is very excited even today!

Imagine what you would have missed if you didn't shoot. Imagine what she would have missed out on.

You did the right thing. Give the little lady a pat on the back from us guys.

It's not the size of the rack that a trophy does make but the size of the smile on the face....like was said, good stuff right there. Shame you weren't in the contest, we'd have our first score...congrats.

It is concidered a Bench Leg. I live in an area where the Mulies from the East and the Blacktail from the West inner bread. If it was a "Trophy Class" animal it would not be recognized as either a Blacktail or Mulie.

Thanks to all for the positive replies. She helped me butcher the deer late last night, she is a trooper.

Brings back memories. My son was 3 when he witnessed his 1st Bowkill Deer with me. Mow 30 years later he is bagging his own. Greatest times ever when they are young. Congrats.

That's the best.. I have two girls myself and look forward to days like that... the oldest one goes and checks cameras w/ me and loves to come home and see the pics. She goose hunted last year w/ me and Diesel77 for about 2hrs. She got cold but she liked it. She will be 4 this January. :D
