String Loop yes or no?
I have seen some recent articles and commentaries that say string loops have morePROS then CONS. What do you all think about them? I am using a Cobra caliper release if that matters.

RE: String Loop yes or no?
I've been shooting one for some time now and I don't know any down side to them.
|
RE: String Loop yes or no?
I use an Ultra Nock. Dont have to worry about it comming untied or loop breakage.
|
RE: String Loop yes or no?
nope never have and probably never will

RE: String Loop yes or no?
I clicked doesn't matter. This is my very first one on my new Allegiance. I've always shot longer ATA bows. All my previous Hoyts have been in the 36" range. I think they have a place in the shorter ATA bows as well as long draw lengths...
The dealer that tied mine on said he never had one come loose...we'll see. |
RE: String Loop yes or no?
I like them because it saves some "wear and tear" on your string.
I've worn out a string loop with a Scott release, so I figured that same wear would've resulted ina new string eventually, and a loop is cheaper than a string! JMO!!! |
RE: String Loop yes or no?
Definetely saved my string.

RE: String Loop yes or no?
I too switched to a string loop when I got my new Reflex Highlander. I was always shooting right off the string with an old PSE round wheel dual cam for years. But now that I've gotten used to a string loop, I wouldn't want to go back to shooting off the string again. They DO make a huge difference with string torque, accuracy, and saving wear and tear on the serving.

RE: String Loop yes or no?
I have been shooting one since they first came ot and would not change back. I have worn out one but never had one come loose.
|
RE: String Loop yes or no?
I say yes!! I use one because I have really long arms. And I need thatlittle extra to make my bow fit me.
|
RE: String Loop yes or no?
I use one and think it's great. Not only does it prevent wear and tear on your string, it also (and more importantly) allows you to draw from directly behind the arrow thus preventing arrow torque and nock pitch. IMO, this makes the bow easier to tune and improves accuracy.
Great invention and one of the best things to come along in archery in some time. While other gizmos and gadgets aren't worth the plastic their packaged in, this painfully simple design is one of the best upgrades you can put on your bow. I wish I'd have thought of it. My .02 |
RE: String Loop yes or no?
I voted no, but I suppose i should have voted doesnt matter. I'm already draw length challenged, so I don't need to add another 1/2 or better to the DL. I also have a single caliper release, so I haven't noticed much wear on my serving. I like shooting off the string.

RE: String Loop yes or no?
I use one and i like it

RE: String Loop yes or no?
I just started using a lop and so far I really like it. Noticed some wear on my string which is the reason why I switched. Other than that I like the felling of being right behind the arrow instead of below.

i use a loop and like it
|
RE: String Loop yes or no?
Keep it as small as possible, and very little (if any) down side.
|
RE: String Loop yes or no?
There is no good reason not to shoot with one.
I definitely shoot with one. |
RE: String Loop yes or no?
I didn't have one on my PSE.
In 2.5yrs of ownership, I didn't have on on my LX for 2 yrs and then had one for the last 6 months. I have one on my Vipertec. I like having it but didn't really notice any issues when I didn't have one. |
RE: String Loop yes or no?
used one for years
|
RE: String Loop yes or no?
of course!!!
|
RE: String Loop yes or no?
If you shoot off of your string , try this : nock an arrow , pull back , let down and see what happens to your arrow . Usually , it will pop off the string and fall. A BIG no no when bullwinkle is right under you ;). Been there , done that.

RE: String Loop yes or no?
I don't use one. I would rather have the simplicity of being able to clip the release (scott little goose) directly to the string than fumble for the string loop. I'm now on my 3rd hunting season with this bow and have not had to replace my serving yet. For those of you who worry about wear on strings...it's not the string that's getting the wear, it's the serving. I can put a new serving on and tie on a thread nock in about 10 minutes or so...it's cheap and easy to do. All that said, if I were shooting for accuracy only I can see the advantages to a string loop, but I'm plenty accurate without it and when I'm out in the woods for a week at a time, the simpler the better.

RE: String Loop yes or no?
YES, I just could not shoot one now.
|
RE: String Loop yes or no?
I am using my first one, basically because of now owning a shorter bow.......34" A to A. My pro shop told me not to worry because it wouldn't break:eek: and it didn't but a Scott Lil Goose release is a little hard on them so I now install my own on exactly how he does. Installing my own makes me feel better.;)

RE: String Loop yes or no?
I voted "no difference" although there are more pro's than cons. The only reason I voted the way I did is because I don't use one because my "loop" is on my release. I have shot a rope release for 30 years now. It's easy, I'm familiar with it, and it's one less thing to mess with.
One other reason is that I don't care for wrist/caliper releases and they are the most common ones used. My preference may change one of these days now that Spot-Hogg has introduced the "Saturday Night Special". Remains to be seen yet. |
RE: String Loop yes or no?
I haven't seen the need. My release grips the string above and below the arrow the same a string loop would.
|
RE: String Loop yes or no?
Tough toll to answer. I guess they are good if you use a release. But not everyone, myself included, does.
