Thanks for sharing that story, I usually ground hunt, but I have left my rope hanging a few times myself, I have been lucky though, the rope has never gotten me busted, I try to remember to keep it up, but I am sure all of us at one time or another has forgotten.

The same thing just happened to me this morning but it was only a small 7 pointer. Thanks for the story

Done that a couple of times.

Once a small yearling came over and started playing with my rope. He finally got a whiff of me and ..gone...I've been busted more that my share when hoisting or lowering my bow.

I always leave my rope in my tree stand (lock ons) and I always leave it dangling. The deer don't even notice it since it has been there since mid-summer. If the wind is blowing it around that just takes their attention of off me and at ground level.

I'm with Chadr, & Chadr, & chadr, & Chadr. LOL Chad. But really, I have a permanent starnd and have a rope tied to it. I leave it dangling all the time. The deer don't seem to notice it. I don't keep it in my stand because I don't want to trip over it and fall out. I do have tall weeds around the bottom of my tree though, that might make a difference.
