The Big 3, I'd own any of them plus the BOWMENDER!

You know, we were talking today. We just can't understand how any one could come into a forum and proclaim their bow as number one and denounce anyone else's bow. It's rediculous and unnecessary. I was priveledge today to have a Trykon (Q2INWHITETAILS), a Switchback (tkycaller) and an Allegiance, (my own) in my back yard and shooting perfectly. Imagine, all three bows shooting perfectly....all very quiet, all very accurate and all pretty much....perfect in the hands of the owners.

I'd be honored to own any of the three in my back yard today. I'd also be honored or welcome anyone else who shoots any other bow to join me. I don't care what you bow you use, use it to the best of your ability and don't call it junk, and don't call mine junk or his junk or theirs junk. A bow is a bow is a bow and I had to laugh when I said to my wife, look at this picture it's really neat, there's a Bowtech, a Hoyt and a Mathews....she said and I quote, " so, they all look alike anyway"....LOL she's right, they are bows and they are awesome.

Tkycaller came up to have me reserve his cable around his bottom cam...I'm surprised the Mathews cam wore out his serving and a pro shop said they all do that...Hmm, do they all do that?

Anyway, we had a great time. I showed tkycaller and Q2INWHITETAILS how to back serve etc...we added a G5 Blue Peep to the Switchback, laser/level tuned and had him shooting darts to pinpoint accuracy....tkycaller already shot my Allegiance before and I said, have you shot the Trykon and his reply was no....of course he loved the Switchback....3 shots out of the Trykon and he had 3 arrows touch...I laughed and said you shoot that bow better than you do the Switchback...we all laughed and talked smack...bottom line guys, it's us against the antis, not us against us....love they bowhunting neighbor. ;)

I picked on tkycaller seen in the red shirt....I said I'd mention all three bows but then say......" But look at the one we had to put in the press and fix..." LOL

Q2INWHITETAILS took the pic.

Oh, and the Bowmender Press from Walks with a Gimp...PRICELESS!!!!!!!

Right on Rob.
I was glad to have the oppurtunity to shoot the Trykon today and your right I did shoot it better than my own!!! LOL
But I still like the switchback because of the ease of the rollover and I will shoot it just as well as the other two now that it is tuned again.
If I could get used to that rollover on the Hoyt I might be tempted to...No never mind.

Sounds like you guys had a good time. That bowmender press is sweet...I'd buy one if WWAG still made them.:(

Rob I really wish I lived closer, I'd come out there and show you that nothing beats a Martin!

Haha, kidding of course.

These days I'd be happy to own just about any bow on the market. Every "big" company around these days manufactures great bows, its all about personal preference.

RE: The Big 3, I'd own any of them plus the BOWMENDER!

I shoot a mathews and probably always will, why? Because my first quality bow I bought and actually spent a fair amount of money on was a mathews mq1, i liked shot it well so I bought a q2xl and have shot that since and when I get a bug up my tail and buy a new one I'll buy a mathews. Just because that's what I prefer, no other reason.
With saying all that I could buy any of those three or any of the other 10 plus good quality bows on the market and shoot probably 90% of them well, just a guess. They are all great bows now, there's not much junk out there if you put a fair amount of cash out for a bow.

Rob you deserve one of those little awards at the bottom of this post. Especially the last line. I know most of the ribbing on the forums is in good clean fun, but some guys just are terrible when it comes to bow loyalty.

Especially the Mathews Guys:D

Rob,
I agree with your post. I was shooting last night with my family. We had Mathews, Parker, PSE, and High Country represented. What matters is enjoying shooting/hunting. Iwas wondering about the G5 peep you installed in the Mathews bow. Does it still have the factory string and if so did it work pretty well? I was thinking about putting one in my XT and getting away from the tubing.

Certainly was an event to be proud of. Happy for your good fortune (others as well).:)Very good picture! What camera did you take it with. Jumps right out!

Hey Josh that press looks like it's right in the way of the cams? Definitely covering the timing holes? Looks the same in your pic too Rob?

Wash, you live about as far as you can get and still be in the states...beside AK of course....you better start driving now...;)

WhitBri, that's a great bow for you and prolly always will be but what I said to Q2IN...., better shoot them all...he switched from a Q2 to the Trykon, you never know until you shoot them.

TRYKON....., I give out the HROAP, I don't receive them. :(, ;)

Josh, great press isn't it, that was the first time I used it, I'm impressed. I have an Apple in the basement, I can tweak the Bowtech with it if I'm careful but on Matt/PA's recommendation, I bought the Bowmender and am glad I did, the Switchback doesn't fit the Apple and now I have a portable press to use, between the two...I'm set.

DaveC, thanks...

krabbie, sounds like a great time. The G5 worked great in his factory string and with the loop he was shooting I had it coming in line perfect every shot, he was also impressed. He had removed another type peep some time ago and wasn't using one...he now loves it but he can elaborate on that if he wants.

nodog, a digital Fuji something or another...I love digitals...and yes, it does somewhat block the timing holes but if you look you can rely on it...

RE: The Big 3, I'd own any of them plus the BOWMENDER!

I totally agree Rob, all the bows by the top manufacturers are quality these days; what it boils down to is personal preference. What little things make a bow a fit to an individual over another one. The benefits from one company to another can sometimes be minute in scope to the bigger picture -- even though we tend to highlight and focus on them. The bigger picture, as you put it, is the fact that we're all bowhunters.

It's funny, you know. In here, I'll discuss features and benefits and have fun discussions with someone over the advantages of one piece of equipment over another... But when I meet any bowhunter on the street, it's like, "Hey brother, I'm glad you're one of us..." I mean, I'm glad someone's one of us in here, too... ;)

After all these years I received an HROAP...I'm touched..thanks brother.

I got off the phone with tkycaller...I really had a great time yesterday, great bows, great company and great....well on my part, good shooting guys.

Seriously guys, I've got to tell you, I visit a couple other sites and I think everyone here gets it more than most.

I have a G5 on my bow and love it! It is a great peep and when I put it on my bow...the tubing came off and haven't needed to use the tubing since!

I must be an idiot or something. I have never saw how you can let off on a rachet strap slowly. It is either free wheeling or locked, isn't it? If not, what brand of strap is being used?

with this one, you can move the rachet up one click, push in the retaining metal peice, and it will let out 2 clicks of rope. really easy to do, even with my giant fingers

IL Bow, Josh is right, you add pressure to it so you can release the release and let it down, do it again, then again until the pressure is off the limbs, very easy. This is a fantastic portable press. Like I said, I have the Apple stand press in my basement and it's difficult and also dangerous on the parrellel limb bows. On Matt/PA's advice I ordered the Bowmender and am glad I did...now I have one to go with me and the versatility of the two.

IBM... I know exactly how you feel... I even owned this press for a short while before I discovered this video.

This'll explain everything...

So what you're saying is me seconding Matt's advice back then had no bearing on your decision to buy it, huh Rob? [8D]I see how ya are buddy... :D

RE: The Big 3, I'd own any of them plus the BOWMENDER!

This is a great post. I think with all the great bows out there today, it's hard to go wrong. I started out shooting a PSE Baby-G that a friend loaned me. Then I bought a Mathews LX in 2004 and liked it alot. (even though the proshop guy mismeasured me and it was too short). I just won a Hoyt ViperTec at a 3D shoot a few weeks ago and just love it. In the meantime, I get to shoot most of the bows that come through the shop I go to. I have shot Bowtech, Elite Archery, Martin, Ross, Reflex, Mathews & Hoyt. While I liked some of the bows better than others. I don't know thatI have ever shot a 'bad' bow. I think if you research the bows you are interested in and then go with the one that feels best, it's really hard to go wrong.
